The site has been selected and designed to leverage on previous developments and complement surrounding activities whilst minimising environmental impact.

Energy storage plays an increasingly important role in the national electricity grid, allowing renewable energy to be stored and released when Queenslanders need power most.

By supporting a continuous flow of clean energy, the BESS strengthens grid resilience and helps ensure homes and businesses have access to reliable electricity.

The project will play a pivotal role in helping Queensland achieve its renewable energy targets.

As part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement, Luminous Energy hosted community drop-in sessions in Miles and Chinchilla on 12 and 13 May. These informal sessions provided an opportunity for neighbours, community members, local businesses and community organisations to meet with the Columboola BESS project team, ask questions, share local knowledge and provide feedback.

Information was available on the proposed project, transport routes, fire and bushfire risk management measures, cultural heritage considerations, and the current stage of project development.

We greatly appreciated the valuable feedback, local insights and questions raised during these sessions, which have helped to further inform our understanding of the local area and ongoing project planning.
