Norheads
Solar Farm

One of Luminous Energy's Operational Solar Farms

Luminous Energy is proposing to develop a solar farm on land at Norheads Lane, Biggin Hill, TN16 3XH

The proposed solar farm has been carefully chosen to minimise the impact on the environment and the local landscape, as well as maximise the potential to capture solar energy.

It would have an approximate capacity of 16 MWac, generating an estimated 21,168 MWh of clean electricity per year. This is the equivalent to the annual electricity needs of approximately 7,840 average UK homes. It is also proposed to include a battery energy storage facility. Energy storage is playing an increasingly more important role in the national electricity grid; it means renewable energy can be stored and released as needed.

A community benefit fund will be setup to support local initiatives and will be paid every year the solar farm is in operation.

The public consultation period is now over – the community involvement event took place on Friday 23 August and the opportunity to feedback ran until Friday 6th September.

A range of ecological enhancements are being considered as part of the application. These include, areas of wildflower and bird seed mix, bat and bird boxes. The solar farm would have a significant positive net biodiversity impact.

Community Consultation

In accordance with guidance issued by the UK Government’s Chief Planner, which emphasised that planning applications that positively impact the country and local communities must continue to come forward, we invite members of the local community to provide feedback on our draft proposals.

A public consultation event was held on Friday 23rd August 2024, at St Mark’s Church Hall, 10 Church Road, Biggin Hill, TN16 3LB. Thank you to everyone who attended. The final deadline for feedback as part of the public consultation has now passed.
