Introducing
Columboola
Battery Energy Storage System

Columboola Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Hookswood, Queensland

Columboola BESS is a proposed 450MW Battery Energy Storage System near Miles, Queensland within the Western Downs Regional Council area.

The proposed development

The proposed development is located on land adjacent to the existing Columboola Solar Farm in Hookswood. It is bordered by Columboola Solar Farm to the North, East and West and Geary’s Road to the South.

The site has been selected and designed to leverage on previous developments and complement surrounding activities whilst minimising environmental impact.

Why do we need BESS?

Energy storage plays an increasingly important role in the national electricity grid, allowing renewable energy to be stored and released when Queenslanders need power most.

By supporting a continuous flow of clean energy, the BESS strengthens grid resilience and helps ensure homes and businesses have access to reliable electricity.

The project will play a pivotal role in helping Queensland achieve its renewable energy targets.
